Although the conference officially concludes on Saturday evening, you will have
an opportunity to explore Tucson's Sonoran desert on the morning of Sunday,
September 26. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is known around the world for
its unique blending of zoo, natural history museum, and botanical garden.
Unlike a typical zoo, where you meet animals behind bars, at the Desert Museum
the exhibits are recreations of the natural Sonoran landscape. As you walk
through the desert you will be surprised to discover Gila monsters, coyotes,
javalinas, praire dogs, and many other animals indigenous to the desert
region.
The Museum hosts over 300 animal species and 1,200 types of plants across 21
acres of desert. A $46 dollar fee includes transportation to and from the
Radisson, as well as admission to the Museum. During the ride to the Museum a
guide will provide information about the Sonoran desert and provide assistance
with getting into the Museum, once you arrive. A bus will depart from the
Radisson at 8 a.m. and return at noon.
To register for this tour, please fill out the appropriate blank on the symposium registration form
and include the tour fee with your registration fees.
